Pentagram Eye Hospital is nominated for a golden statuette

Pentagram Eye Hospital for the second year is a finalist for a golden statuette at the Annual Medical Awards in the category: ‘Quality and Safety in Medicine,’ as stated by the jury of the prestigious competition.

The ceremony will take place on 03.07.2025 at the 5-star Crown Plaza Sofia hotel, and the nominations are provided by the event partners, according to the organizers Global Media Group.

One of the main Hippocratic principles states ‘Primum non nocere’ (‘First, do no harm’). It emphasizes the importance of empathy, careful attention to the patient, and striving for healing, not just treatment. This is also one of the main principles embedded in the work of the Specialized Eye Hospital ‘PENTAGRAM’, where quality treatment and patient safety go hand in hand.

Pentagram Eye Hospital, whose founder and driving force is Dr. Vesselin Daskalov, is a pioneer in introducing innovations that guarantee high-quality and safe treatment of cataracts, glaucoma, retinal detachment, intraocular hemorrhages, intraocular foreign bodies, laser correction of nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism.

The clinic is one of the few in the country where corneal transplants are performed from cadaver donors as well as numerous other high-tech interventions.

Pentagram Eye Hospital is one of the first specialized eye hospitals on the Balkan Peninsula.in which it introduced the Femtosecond laser into its routine practice and included it in surgical interventions for corneal transplantation. This has been performed at the specialized clinic since 2015.

The eye clinic is among the leaders in Bulgaria in laser correction of nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. It is equipped with the most advanced refractive laser, the latest generation from ZEISS, which is distinguished by very high speed and precision. With it, 1 diopter of nearsightedness is corrected in 1.3 seconds, and 3 diopters are eliminated in under 4 seconds.

The refractive laser is suitable for correcting nearsightedness up to minus 10 diopters. For farsightedness, it can be a solution for people with up to plus 4-6 diopters, and for astigmatism, it can handle up to plus/minus 3 diopters. The intervention with it offers a completely new dimension and allows the patient to leave the hospital just a few hours after the operation, even driving their own car.

Last year, the Pentagram Eye Hospital received gold statuettes in two categories: an individual award for Dr. Vesselin Daskalov in the category “Doctor whom patients trust” and an award for the hospital in the category “Innovations in medicine.”
