The Conference ‘Theory Meets Practice’ Brings Together the Elite of Ophthalmology in Bulgaria and the Region in February

The 4th Scientific Meeting of Ophthalmologists in Bulgaria, held under the motto “Theory Meets Practice”, will take place on February 20 and 21 at the Grand Hotel “Millennium” in Sofia.

The leading professional event in the field of ophthalmology is organized at the initiative of the Director of the Specialized Eye Clinic “PENTAGRAM” and its chief eye surgeon Dr. Veselin Daskalov. The organizing committee of the conference also includes Assoc. Prof. Andrey Andreev (Director of the Eye Clinic “Den” Medical Center), Assoc. Prof. Borislav Kyuchukov (Head of the University Eye Clinic at UMBAL “Tsaritsa Joanna – ISUL”), Prof. Hristina Grupcheva (Vision Center “Prof. Grupcheva”), Dr. Alexander Angelov (founder of the Eye Clinic RESBIOMED).

This year, the event has increased international participation. Presentations will feature some of the most renowned names in Europe and the region in the field of refractive surgery. Among them are Dr Carl Claes , head of the Vitreoretinal Surgery Department (posterior segment of the eye) at Saint Augustine Hospital in Antwerp, Belgium, Dr. Dimitris Sakelaris и Dr. Miltos Balidis (Greece), Prof. Mirko Jankov (Zurich SW), Prof. Nora Majtanova (Slovakia), Prof. Tryfonos Rotsos (Greece), Prof. Adam Wylegala (Poland), Dr. Vladimir Popovsky (Barcelona Spain), DrDr. Sundeep Vaswani (United Kingdom)Prof. Nora Majtanova is the president of the Glaucoma Society of Slovakia and one of its most prominent ophthalmologists. She will present interesting cases from her practice and deliver a presentation on behalf of the company “Santen” about the global results of implementing the implant for the treatment of macular degeneration PreserFlo, which was introduced in Bulgaria for the first time at the Specialized Eye Clinic “PENTAGRAM”.

Another renowned specialist in the region will speak about contemporary trends in the treatment of macular degeneration – Prof. Tryfonos Rotsos – a lecturer at Democritus University of Thrace (Greece), the general secretary of the Hellenic Society of Ophthalmology, who has a significant private practice in Athens.Dr. Carl Claes – one of the leading surgeons in Europe and the world in the field of the posterior eye segment, will deliver a keynote presentation during the Surgical Retina panel on the second day of the forum.

On behalf of the Specialized Eye Clinic “PENTAGRAM”, presentations will be given by Dr. Veselin Daskalov and Dr. Ralitsa Kermedchieva, who will also moderate part of the sessions, Dr. Maria Benova, Dr. Tanya Bozeva, Dr. Risto Trajkovski, Dr. Nadezhda Muneva, Dr. M. Participation in the 4th Scientific Meeting of Ophthalmologists in Bulgaria grants credit points under the Unified Credit System for evaluating forms of continuing medical education for doctors.
